Amy V. Cofield, a South Carolina native, holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from the University of South Carolina. After several years of distinguished service as a teacher in Anderson, South Carolina, Amy transitioned to the legal profession in 1987, and went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1990.
Post-law school, Amy embarked on her legal career in private practice alongside her father, C. Thomas Cofield, III, in Anderson, SC. Her practice areas encompassed real estate, workers’ compensation, and probate matters. Even after her father’s passing in 1994, Amy continued her commitment to the legal field, where she proudly owned and operated the first “Woman Owned” law firm in Anderson.
At present, Amy operates her private practice, Amy Cofield Law, at 5044 Augusta Road in Lexington, South Carolina. She holds licenses to practice in both state and federal courts and maintains active membership in the Lexington County and South Carolina Bar Associations.
Amy serves as a Board Member for Lexington Medical Center and is on the board of the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association. Her community involvement extends to Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and a variety of other charitable organizations.
Married to Jimmy Terrapin, Amy is the proud mother of two sons, Kessler and Tommy, and has three step-sons, Aaron, Brett, and Coleman.
Amy’s extensive legal experience includes filing and successfully arguing cases before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and South Carolina Supreme Court, demonstrating her prowess in the legal field.
Throughout her professional career, Amy has been actively involved in various boards, including Leadership Anderson, and served as a Board Member for Katrina’s Kids, Lexington Hospital, and the SC Workers’ Compensation Education Association.
In her community, Amy has received recognition, being voted “Best Real Estate Attorney” and “Best Probate Attorney” in Lexington Life Magazine. Additionally, in the Lexington Chronicle, she was acknowledged as “Best Civil Attorney,” further solidifying her positive impact and reputation.
